About Me

My name is Gabriela Medrano, I am a current Texas State University Journalism Student. I previously attended Webster University’s home campus in St. Louis and studied Journalism there as well. I am in my third year of University with an anticipated graduation date in spring of 2019. I enjoy writing lifestyle pieces and feel most comfortable writing about film and live shows.

At Webster University students can take their major classes as early as their first semester and do basics along with their major courses. While attending Webster University my Freshman year I wrote for the Webster Journal. During my first semester I was published twice, and was published six times. All but one of my Stories while I attended Webster were lifestyle stories, with the exception being an opinions column. In my second semester at Webster I was a staff writer. I then left Webster to head back to the great state of Texas and attend Texas State University.

I am now in my third semester at Texas State University and am taking my Journalism classes now, my first two semesters I finished up my basics. I look forward to updating this site as my Texas State Journalism career progresses.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy,

Gabriela Medrano

“Great Expectations” Director and Webster University Jazz Vocal Major Dominique Price gave the show its name. Webster University student Zach Kromer has an obsession with space that began at three years old. His obsession, coupled with his interest in web design, led him to a paid internship for the United Launch Alliance (ULA) in Denver, Colorado this summer for ten weeks.

Zach Kromer and his twin brother Nick Kromer were three years old when their grandfather took them to the back patio, where a telescope stood. Their grandfather showed them the stars and, according to Zach Kromer, inspired their fascination with space. Continue reading “Kromer reaches for the stars”

For the last 10 years, the seniors of the Conservatory of Theatre Arts have traveled to Los Angeles to attend a showcase. Musical theatre major Ari Axelrod said the event is a huge opportunity for these performers.

At showcases, students are able to perform for professional designers, directors, agents and casting directors. In addition, agents are able to interact with the performers and get to know them.

The students have two showcases this spring, the Los Angeles showcase and another in New York. Webster University includes the Conservatory’s New York showcase in their tuition, but not the one in Los Angeles. Continue reading “Crowd-funding the road to stardom”
